Several years ago I built my own teardrop camping trailer. Not from a kit, but from scratch. More accurately, I reverse-engineered a commercially made version.

I bought as many components as possible from big-box home centers and hardware stores, seeking to build something great out of commodity-grade parts. Ultimately, however, many parts came from more specialty vendors, including trailer supply companies, fine lumber supplier, and specialty marine outlets.
